Prior to joining Baird in 2022, Tom was a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley. He began his career in the financial services industry in 2005.

Tom and his wife Dr. Elizabeth Helms have lived in Durango since 2005 with their three children. He is actively involved in the community serving on the Board of Directors for a local non-profit Domestic Violence prevention organization in addition to serving on the board for La Plata Family Center. Previous service includes the First United Methodist Church’s Endowment and Finance committees and school district 9R’s Finance Committee.  Tom also officiates junior high and high school sports activities in Southwest Colorado.

Tom is currently studying for the Certified Private Wealth Advisor exam with an expected completion date in the fall of 2025. After 21 years of U.S. Air Force Active and Reserve service, he retired from the USAF in May of 2017 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Previous assignments included, Director of Operations, 310th Space Wing, 310th Operations Support Squadron at Schriever Air Force Base.  Prior assignments included joint assignments with the German Air Force, Space and Missile launch operations and Operational Test and Evaluation of USAF space-based assets.
